We recently fitted a detachable tow bar to a customer’s new Audi Q8 Etron.
The customer wanted a reliable and approved tow bar for towing their much-loved caravan.
As the vehicle was on lease they needed a company that was approved for fitting tow bars and that supplied them with the required documents set out by the leasing company. The customer also wanted a competitive price and written confirmation that the tow bar was fitted in line with legal requirements.
The Audi Q8 Etron certainly meets the mark as a capable EV tow car. According to Autoexpress, the maximum towing weight is 1800kg. Not quite as much as the standard Q5 petrol or diesel which can tow 2500kg, but still plenty of weight allowance for pulling a medium-sized caravan or trailer.
For the Audi Q8 Etron tow bar we fitted the approved TowTrust detachable bar alongside ConWysAG vehicle-specific approved dedicated 13-pin wiring. The electrics included power for the caravan electronic stabiliser and power feed for the fridge and auxiliary battery.
The fitting technicians took around two hours to complete the fitting, which was carried out at the customer’s address.
Due to the complexity and technical knowledge required for fitting tow bars to electric vehicles, we do not recommend customers fitting their own tow bars to the Audi Etron range of vehicles.
Our recommendation is to get a price for your electric vehicle tow bar by visiting our online towbar price form or calling 0114 3607080.
All of our tow bar fittings come with:
Vehicle Approved Dedicated wiring fitted as standard.
