Q. Is it possible to self-fit a truck towbar?
A. Although it is fairly straightforward to fit the tow bar, we recommend only having a tow bar fitted by approved and experienced tow bar fitters. Safety is the number one factor when towing and having a tow bar fitted professionally installed will ensure that everything is safe and legal.
Q. Can I fit the towing electrics myself?
A. We don’t recommend anyone fitting towing electrics unless you are suitably experienced and qualified to do the job. Fitting tow bar wiring can be a very complex procedure requiring sound knowledge of vehicle electrics. Also, unless you can update the vehicle’s software the vehicle will not activate the required towing features, making the vehicle unsafe when towing.
Q. Will the tow ball be too high for towing a caravan?
A. The tow bars that we fit to the Ranger and Amarok have multi-height fixings for the tow ball. If you want to tow a caravan then the lower setting will be exactly the correct height.
Q. Will there be any power for an auxiliary battery?
A. Yes, all of the type-approved 13-pin tow bar electrics that we fit come with switched power for auxiliary battery charging.
